Anyone who does nothing to prevent severe varroa infestation in their colonies will suffer damage to the colonies or possibly lose them all.
However, this principle also means that the natural reproduction of Varroa bees must be interfered with by the emasculations. Strictly speaking, every emasculation also involves a certain degree of selection among the varroa. Those mites that survive the emaciation and cope best with the active ingredient, regardless of the substance, will continue to reproduce and pass on their already somewhat adapted genetic material. This lays the foundation for a better adapted mite population. New Varroa strains will emerge. The mite removal treatments become increasingly ineffective, new products are used and the process starts all over again.
